The text &#8220;Gremio de Fabricantes de F\u00f3sforos de Espa\u00f1a&#8221; appeared on the boxes together with the individual factory name. Importantly, this law tried to ensure there would be no competition from cheaper foreign products.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Another contract was signed on December 22, 1892 which granted<strong>&nbsp;<\/strong>the &#8220;Compa\u00f1\u00eda de cerillas y f\u00f3sforos&#8221;&nbsp;exclusive sales rights in Spain and the Balearic Islands for all types of matches until February 14, 1908.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Under the Gremio the number of factories was gradually reduced, to around 55, and just three types of matchboxes were produced :<\/p>\n<div id='wpt-table-1776503593587' class=''><\/div><script type='text\/javascript'>(function() {function createTable() {if (window.wpt) {window.wpt.createTable({\"_id_div\":\"wpt-table-1776503593587\",\"_ctrl_url\":\"https:\\\/\\\/inserts.org.uk\\\/wp-admin\\\/admin-ajax.php?action=wpt_load_data&amp;table=10477&amp;_wpnonce=8feff442d3\",\"width\":\"100%\",\"height\":null,\"sorting\":false,\"selecting\":true,\"heading\":true,\"paging\":false,\"pageSize\":\"20\",\"autoload\":true,\"fields\":[{\"name\":\"f0\",\"title\":\"ID\",\"type\":\"number\",\"visible\":true,\"width\":\"4\",\"align\":\"center\",\"format\":\"0,0\",\"currency_symbol\":\"\"},{\"name\":\"f1\",\"title\":\"Description\",\"type\":\"text\",\"visible\":true,\"width\":\"40\",\"align\":\"center\",\"format\":\"\",\"currency_symbol\":\"\"},{\"name\":\"f2\",\"title\":\"Price\",\"type\":\"text\",\"visible\":true,\"width\":\"4\",\"align\":\"center\",\"format\":\"\",\"currency_symbol\":\"\"},{\"name\":\"f3\",\"title\":\"Example matchbox\",\"type\":\"text\",\"visible\":true,\"width\":\"50\",\"align\":\"center\",\"format\":\"\",\"currency_symbol\":\"\"}]});} else {setTimeout(createTable, 100);}}createTable();})();<\/script>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">In 1897 the Gremio needed to raise more revenues for the Exchequer and decided to include collectable cards (i.e.&nbsp;<strong>Inserts)<\/strong> in the <a href=\"http:\/\/inserts.org.uk\/index.php\/introduction\/matchboxes-containing-the-inserts\/\"><strong>spingflap<\/strong><\/a> boxes, like <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/inserts.org.uk\/index.php\/other-types-of-inserts\/\">similar cards<\/a><\/strong>&nbsp;which could be found in cigarette papers and packets of tobacco.
